Our Story

Eight years of transforming how young people think about money

Lumora Energy began with a simple observation: children leave school knowing how to solve quadratic equations but not how to manage a bank account.

Founded in 2018 by former financial advisors and educators, we set out to bridge this gap. Our founders had spent years helping adults untangle poor financial decisions and recognised that most of these problems could have been prevented with earlier education.

We started with weekend workshops in community centres across Birmingham. Word spread quickly among parents who saw real changes in their children's relationship with money. Within two years, local schools began inviting us to supplement their PSHE curricula.

What Drives Us

Financial stress affects families across all income levels. We've seen how early education can break cycles of debt, impulse spending, and financial anxiety that pass from generation to generation.

Our mission extends beyond teaching children to save. We want young people to feel confident discussing money, to understand that financial decisions involve trade-offs, and to develop habits that serve them throughout life.

Our Teaching Philosophy

Learning Should Be Enjoyable

Dry lectures don't work for adults, let alone children. Our sessions use games, simulations, and collaborative challenges that make financial concepts memorable.

Practice Beats Theory

Students don't just learn about budgets; they create and manage real ones. Abstract concepts become concrete through hands-on experience.

Age-Appropriate Content

A seven-year-old and a fifteen-year-old need different approaches. We tailor content, examples, and activities to each developmental stage.

Safe Space for Questions

Money can feel like a taboo topic. We create environments where children feel comfortable asking questions their parents might find difficult to answer.
